Buyer beware applies to finding printer repair too... Avoid Mikell Brockington!

So, if you live in the Charlotte area and you are looking for someone to repair your printer, beware else you'll find yourself in the same boat I am... having found someone, paid them for an initial visit, cost of the part that was allegedly ordered, and the installation even though the installation was to be done after the part arrived, and then never be able to get the guy back out here to do the work.

Using the copierrepairman.com website, I found iTUG (aka I. T. Unlimited Group and CrossPoint Technology Group, LLC) owned by Mikell Brockington.  Here's what happened:

I contacted iTUG (Mikell Brockington) for a service call on an HP Color laser printer.  Mickell Brockington Sr, the owner of the company came out, looked at the printer and diagnosed the problem (I had actually already diagnosed the problem and told him what it was when I engaged his services by phone) as needing a new toner cartridge lock mechanism. I was told it would take about 2 days to get the parts.  This was on 10/7.  He required full payment of the service call, parts and installation at the time of the first visit since it required ordering parts (which he told me were $25).  The total cost of repairs came to 216.81.  We scheduled a follow up appointment for the following Monday (10/13) to give ample time for parts to be received.  On 10/13, I had not heard anything from Mikell, so I called him to find out what the status was.  I was informed the parts had not been received yet.  I touched base with him a couple more times this week.  On Thursday, 10/16 when I called him, he said he was planning to be here on Friday 10/17 around 10am, that the parts were in.  On Friday, at 11:18am I called him because he still had not shown up or called.  He was allegedly in Mooresville and 30 mins away.  At 1:45pm he'd still not shown up.  I called him.  No answer. Left voicemail.  2pm - no answer.  3pm - no answer.  Looks like I'm being stood up here.

10/20:  Since I submitted the complaint, I have finally heard back from Mikell, the owner, and we have a tentative schedule of Friday this week to complete repairs and he has offered to refund $95 for the delay.   We'll see what happens Friday.  Will let you know. Thank you.

10/24: Here it is Friday, Mikell Brockington, Sr, was supposed to get in contact with me on Thursday to schedule a time to do the repairs he promised and charged me for.  The repairs were supposed to be done today.  I've not heard from him which seems to be standard practice as he's not once proactively contacted me.  I've tried texting and calling him since yesterday and this morning with no responses.  What is our next course of action?  NOT HAPPY!!

10/25:  I tried calling Mikell again, this time from the home phone number... a number he does not have.  He actually answered.  His excuse for not being here when he said he would be was that he had to fire a few people this week and was trying to catch up.  He said he'd call someone and pay them to come out to do the work and I'd hear back from him in an hour; two at the most.  Two hours later, no call from Mikell.  When I try calling him, the phone just rings and then they go to voicemail.

So it seems that Mikell has no intention of doing the work and I may well be out $216.81. So beware of slimeballs like this guy who wants your money but not to do the job they're paid to do.

This is Mikell Brockington, Sr.

This is the invoice/receipt showing what he ripped me off for.

So many things I want to write, but simply cannot... not here.  Many things are going on right now.  Positive things.  Sometimes perplexing things.

As you plant a seed in the hopes of it becoming a beautiful flower, so too you plant seeds of friendship and love.  How well those seeds grow, just like the flower, depend upon how much you nurture them.  It can take time, sometimes years, to realize the full potential of some of these seeds.  But if you are patient, the things you want most in life will come to you.
